Sweet Home Alabama

Here comes the post you have all been waiting for. Pictures of our new home.

The house was built in 1924 and is listed on the Montgomery Historic Register.

Yes, there are 2 rocking chairs on the front porch. That alone probably sold me on the place.

The back porch, including the huge backyard.

So far, we have seen squirrels, lizards, assorted birds, and kittens. It's a zoo out there!

I am very excited about my very own Arts & Crafts room!

The Dining Room

It's quite the labyrinth.

The foyer, with views of the kitchen and the hallway.

View of the front door

Standing in the kitchen, looking towards the dining room.

Yes, I am able to clean the top of the fridge without using a stepladder.

View of the kitchen from the mudroom.

The place also comes with a lizard. Lexington showed up on day 1 and hasn't left yet! In fact, we find him in a different place every day. It's a game of hide & seek.

The reading nook in the Florida room.

The Master bedroom, including an antique wardrobe. Maybe I'll find my way to Narnia after all.

This place is great, although it may take us a while to get used to "old house noises" again. The sound I woke up from last night could have been a motorcycle, a monster in the basement, or the a/c kicking in. One never knows.

Thank you for traveling with me today!
Until next time,
Nadine

  1. Wow, it's so beautiful and quirky! Exactly the type of place I have imagined living. The 20s and 30s are my favorite era for homes. The built in bookshelf with the asymmetrical dividers is nifty. I hope that Lexington is getting enough insects to eat in your pretty clean house. My mom used to keep lizards, and one of her leopard geckos got out. We finally found him months later behind a picture frame, and he was very lethargic and skinny from not eating well and being cold (it was December), but made a good recovery.

    1. Lexi is still alive and kicking! We figure he would just leave the house, if the insect level was too low. This is my first reptile pet, so we'll have to learn together.
